When we choose the foods that we choose to fuel our bodies with, it is not only important that they fit all the criteria for optimal health and fitness results:
- High in Nutrient Density
- Low to Zero Refined Sugar
- Alive (i.e Not Processed or filled with Preservatives, Additives)
…but that we also enjoy them for their taste! That’s right! They have to taste good to you or else you won’t get the benefits from them.
In previous articles, I’ve mentioned the importance of endorphin stimulation for health. To be brief about it here, endorphins are hormones that need to be stimulated for physical health to remain optimal. These hormones are stimulated when we feel good and free from stress.

If you’re not enjoying what you are eating, then you won’t trigger those hormones and you won’t get the benefits from them – no matter how nutrient rich they are.
I’ll give an example – Red Snapper
Researchers from the University of Kuopio in Finland have found that vitamin B12 is essential for the release of certain endorphins (or happy hormones). One serving of red snapper has almost 3× the amount of B12 your RDI (recommended daily intake).
Now that’s awesome news if you…if you like fish! But if you can’t stand the taste of the stuff, and you’re eating simply because you believe it’s good for you – trust me, you’re better of eating a Microwave Pizza (if that’s what you enjoy). Whatever small amount of nutrient it does have, you will at least absorb it.
I’m not saying here that I recommend you eat whatever junk you fancy. I’m simply saying that it is important to love what you eat. Food is a pleasure of life, and we have been given taste buds for a reason – to enjoy taste!
How It is Prepared & How Complicated It Is to Prepare Is Very Important!
Many people say that don’t like certain foods because they have never had it served to them in a delicious way. Many people find certain foods delicious, but never prepare them because it would be simpler and less time consuming to assemble a rocket ship.
Living alone and working long hours, I struggled with this for years. Training 6 days a week and having a physically demanding job, I needed a high nutrient dense diet. My solution became Subway – it was the healthiest, least expensive, and least time consuming food I could think of. But I got sick of it and I my energy was fading. My muscle growth slowed and I my immune system was starting to suffer. Ultimately, eating a loaf of bread every day, semi-processed meat and sauces full or additives isn’t the most nutrient rich thing you can be putting into your body.
That’s when I started to very seriously looking for a better way to eat.
It’s Too Complicated
I had tried getting more organized and preparing tasty high in nutrient food in the past, many, many times. But before too long, I just didn’t find the time and was back on the Subway.
It has to be quick and simple if you are going to maintain it.

I had also tried eating simple to prepare salads, tin tuna, baked beans, kidney beans. But these things start to taste less delicious than the wrapping and tins that they come in after a while.
My 2 Greatest Nutrient Dense Fuel Secrets!
Liquid Gold!
You may have heard that to lose weight and stay optimal in health, it is better to eat 5 or 6 small meals a day rather than 3 bigger portions. This is absolutely true. However, the digestive system has to work longer when we eat more regularly. If we don’t chew our food crazy good like cows, we end up putting just as much strain on the internal systems as eating larger meals.
But if we fuel our body every 2-3 hours in the day with liquid nutrition that has been very finely broken down, we can place minimal strain on our bodies at the same time as provide it with amazingly nutrient dense fuel.
I Don’t Think I Could Enjoy a Meal That I Drink
Okay, I know it is important for us humans to chew our food to get appreciation from it. But the truth is that most of us are actually biting of more than we should chew. We only really need to chew 1 or 2 meals at the most for our pleasure senses to be stimulated. Any more than that, and we can actually end up over-stimulated leading to over-eating.
1 or 2 Chewed Meals – The rest Are Liquid Gold
I have found a formula that is simple and quick, nutrient rich, and keeps my taste buds dancing!
It’s the combination of:
- Eating 1 or 2 chewed meals a day. I always eat breakfast, and I sometimes eat a dinner or lunch meal (usually when dining out with friends or family).
- Drinking 3 Green Smoothies/day; and 3 serves of Vegetable Juices/day (500ml/serve).
This way of taking in nutrients will ensure that you are:
- Always getting all the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, calories that you need
- Always placing least amount of strain on your internal organs (inc. digestive system/liver/kidneys
- Able to maintain this way of taking in nutrients as it is simple and quick, and tasty!
I know that it may not seem like it would taste delicious, but you need to serisously try it before you bag this one.
I usually do my Vegetable Juicing for the entire day in the morning. It takes me approx. 20mins including cleaning the juicer –that’s it.
I tend to make my Green Smoothies fresh before drinking every time as it is quick and it takes less time to clean the blender than the juicer. It takes me approx. 10mins to prepare and clean – that’s it.
I can only recommend that you try this way of eating/drinking. It really is so simple, and I can almost guarantee that you will never look back.
